Country Maid, Inc., makers of the famous Butter Braid® Pastries announces they have been awarded the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Certification under the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), a globally trusted, recognized, and accepted food safety and quality program.
SQF certification provides assurance that the products sold by certified manufactures have passed rigorous international standards for food safety and quality. Products produced and manufactured under the SQF certification retain a high degree of acceptance in global markets by retailers, consumer brands, and foodservice providers.
“Our implementation of this globally recognized food safety program reinforces Country Maid’s commitment to deliver safe food to the marketplace,” said Steve Melnyk, Vice President of Manufacturing.
To achieve SQF certification, suppliers complete extensive training; develop, document, and implement food safety and quality plans; and undergo a third-party audit. The audit process evaluates a company’s food safety and quality programs that include cleaning and sanitation, personnel practices, and plant maintenance.
